Memorial Portraits

Drew draws portraits of loved ones.  This can be part of the grieving process.  It is a way to manifest their spirit into an artwork you can treasure forever.  Art is the language of the soul, and when death has touched us, the soul needs kindness, poetry, and ways to be expressed.

Techniques

Drew has unique techniques to capture the spirit of a loved one. He draws inspiration from speaking to loved ones, finding the stories that will bring the person's spirit and character to life.  He then weaves those stories through words & images into the face, so that the drawing of the larger face is made up of these words & drawings.

He uses earth pigments, oil pastels, ash and charcoal from sacred fires & has been asked to use ash from cremations.

How it Started

Drew was asked to draw a little girl awaiting heart surgery in hospital.  The impact of this drawing was so profound on her that another mother in the hospital asked Drew to draw her daughter too, to bring a piece of peace in such a difficult time.

Drew has seen the importance of the soulful nature Art brings to the grieving process, which is why he is honoured to offer this service to those who feel it will help.
